Workshop and Concert by Krzysztof Topolski (PL)
Thursday 24th August afternoon 16h, at Zastávka Chotěboř, entrance via kafé Kohout.
Evening public open air concert at 19h.
Earlier in Summer I met Mr. Bambuch. He mentioned that he used to sing a Polish song called “Czerwone Jabłuszko”. I knew it, had heard it many times, and remembered the melody. It was a very inspiring and joyful encounter, filled with music. I sang this song accompanied by Mr. Bambuch on piano in his living room. This gave me the idea to work out a piece with this traditional song in mind. It became the inspiration for organizing workshops and a concert. (KT)
During the workshops, we got to know the song, tried to sing it, and perhaps subjected it to a creative deconstruction. We also explored the very interesting historical context of the song’s origin. The starting point for our musical activities was merely the song itself. Together we prepared an improvised concert where vocal elements blend with percussion and electronic music, recordings from various locations, and elements of the acoustic landscape. After the workshops, there was a relaxed open post-workshop presentation.
The workshop was open for any creative musician, amateur or professional, of any age.
