The year went fast. Covid warnings diminished. KRA continued on the dual track it had started the years before: combining international events with local participations. During the Corona years, we stopped the residencies, festivals and workshops temporarily, but at the same time started up the buttulab DIY makerspace, together with Zastavka194 in Chotěboř. Several workshops (for instance about sound, music and 3D printing) but also concerts were organized there. At Kra we cut the grass for some limited outdoor dancing and well-being workshops.
Also, a number of internet events were organized, mainly as international collaborations: the performance String Sextets for Art’s Birthday on January 17th 2022, and the 24 hour openmike/concert celebration Réveil of sunrise/dawn May 1st 2022. Also in May we were having a trip to Bratislava for a field recording workshop within the international sound art project Eavesdropping Danube by Polina Khatsenka (BY) and others.
The major Summer event was a production participation for the house band Rural Development. For Cultural Capital Esch 2022’s Radio Art Zone, they set up a 22 hour live performance. This combined an outdoor open microphone network with additional instrumentation based on the provided natural sounds. Kra was the headquarters connecting Berlin, Den Hague, Kerminy and Tokyo to the art radio studio in Esch. In the aftermath part of the performance was extended to Gdansk for the opening of Nina Czegledy’s art-science exhibition Sensoria at the City Gallery Laznia, situated in the old harbour. Most of the preparations were done outdoors at Kra, based on previous setups extending this experience in the audience participatory performance with a 40-piece choir Fanfara Gdansk.
